Linking your Aadhaar and PAN is a mandatory requirement for Indian citizens, as per Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act. Linking the two will help in eliminating duplicate PANs and making the tax system more efficient.

To check the status of your Aadhaar-PAN link, you can visit the Income Tax e-Filing website (https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/) and click on the "Link Aadhaar" option under the "Quick Links" section. From there, you will be able to check the status of your Aadhaar-PAN link. Alternatively, you can also check the status by sending an SMS in the format UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar number><SPACE><10 digit PAN> to 567678 or 56161.

To link Aadhaar and PAN, you can follow the below steps:

Visit the Income Tax e-filing website: https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home

Click on the "Link Aadhaar" option available on the left-hand side of the website.

Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, and captcha code.

Click on the "Link Aadhaar" button.

If the details entered by you are correct, your Aadhaar will be linked to your PAN.

Alternatively, you can also link your Aadhaar and PAN by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format:

UIDPAN<SPACE><12-digit Aadhaar number><SPACE><10-digit PAN number>

For example: UIDPAN 123456789012 AB1234567C

Once you have successfully linked your Aadhaar and PAN, you can use either of these documents for various financial transactions, including filing your income tax returns.
